How to fill gaps that span several grades
in Mathematics knowledge?

You now know where the gaps are in the learner’s knowledge. How do you fill those gaps?

We have identified a number of essential building or knowledge blocks that a Mathematics learner need.

We are designing a series of Catch-up manuals. These manuals differ from “normal” textbooks in that they are topic specific and cover ALL grades in which the topic is covered.

A learner can then use the manual from Grade 3 to Grade 9 to master the topic and for Gr 10 to 12 to consolidate knowledge and fill gaps. Even if a topic, such as fractions, does not form part of the Grade 10 to Grade 12 Curriculum as such, it does not mean that the learner does not the require the underlying knowledge to master advanced topics.

We started with a Fractions manual as we view this as one of the most important areas and know that learners often experience the topic as difficult. Therefore, we set out the different topics in easy-to-follow language and build up knowledge in small steps.

More about Fractions Gr 3 to 9 manual.

This manual is not limited to a single academic grade level, but covers all content from Grade 3 to 9. The learner is guided through a specific topic from the very first introduction of the topic in lower grades up to the current level of the learner. The learner can see how new concepts are added to each topic in each grade. This means that the learner can master each layer of content, gain confidence and move on to a more complicated layer, until the learner reaches his or her current grade. We can brief the teacher, tutor or parent on the most effective ways of using the manual.
